Soul Talk

Letting go isn’t always a decision—it’s a process. When heartbreak hits deep, something inside us tries to hold on, even when there’s nothing left to grip. We replay the moments. Reread the messages. Relive the dreams that won’t ever be. We hold on because letting go can feel like losing ourselves.

Sometimes we chase what broke us. We apologize when we’ve done nothing wrong. We beg for love that already walked away. We lay our dignity on the altar of false hope, praying maybe—just maybe—it’ll come back.

That kind of heartbreak is exhausting. It drains your strength and whispers that this ache is forever.

But here’s the truth: “My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word.” (Psalm 119:25, ESV) God sees you barely hanging on. He knows the hurt buried deep in your bones. And still, He offers life. Not a fake smile. Not some shallow distraction. Life—real, soul-deep, restorative life.

You don’t have to pretend you’re okay. You don’t have to rush the healing. But you also don’t have to stay stuck. God wants to breathe life back into the places that feel dead and numb. If you’ll allow Him, He’ll do it one surrendered moment at a time.

Let’s Talk to God (Prayer)

Dear Lord Jesus,
I keep holding on even when I know I shouldn’t. I’ve tied my worth to someone who couldn’t carry it. Please help me untangle my heart from what wounded it. Show me how to grieve and release. Restore the parts of me that I gave away.
In Your precious and powerful name, Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.

Key Questions to Reflect On

  • What am I still holding on to?
  • How is this attachment affecting my peace, my joy, and my faith?
  • What truth from God’s Word can I begin replacing these thoughts with?

Soul Work

Create a release list. Write down the things, people, or memories it’s time to let go of. Beside each one, write a Scripture that speaks truth and peace over that space in your heart.

Then pray over the list—asking God to do what you can’t yet do on your own.

Key Meditation Scriptures

  • Isaiah 61:3 (NLT)“To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.”
  • Matthew 11:28 (NLT)“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’”
  • Psalm 34:18 (NLT)“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
